I was experimenting with a new shape for my clay beads. I have made hearts, lentils (mostly!), pillows and few others. But, how about star shape ones????

The result was... up to my standard, it's big and fat!

Stay tune for the upload of the set that I made!!

I have been thinking...

Should I also start selling hair clips with crystals that I paste by myself? What do you think?

Some days ago I bought 2 plain black clips ...
yup, very plain looking indeed.

And I transformed one of them into....

- BLING -

Looks totally awesome, no? Say Yes!!!!

Seriously, I'm not even sure if anyone would want to buy hair clips with self-pasted crystals. Well, in case if you want me to.... you know you can just drop me an email at adelin.lok@gmail.com . ;)

Oh, not to forget, I also did the pasting on another plain looking clip too!

14 Apr 2009 - Ronseal's Wood Varnish

I ran out of gloss for my beads.

-shrieks-

And what's worse is that, the brand has discontinued that product!

I went on Google to search for alternatives. After much anticipation, I found that Future and Varathene were commonly mentioned for use in bead finishes. And whatever I need to buy has to be acrylic based. Such products can be found in DIY, homefix stores.

I hop on down to the nearby store and found Ronseal's polyurethane varnish for wood. It is good, but it takes a longer time for my beads to dry completely. I first tested on my own set of beads and it only starts to dry 4 hours later. And for this reason, I had to push a day back for mailing of beads to my customers! >.< This brand of varnish should work just as fine. =)

Here's showing you the custom made beads for 2 lovely ladies (I have used Ronseal for the below sets)

In case you are wondering.... where has the owner gone to???

I was helping my sis-in-law (her site at http://thenailsbylynn.blogspot.com/ ) to get some nail clay bits done... and below are samples for her.

Delicious-looking mini treats! And smiley faces.

Seriously, I was a bit dumbfounded when she asked me to make this. I was thinking "how is it possible to make something this small??!?! I don't have any molds to create those lovely bits from the magazine article she showed me, and my hands are so big!"

I challenged myself and tried to make some decent looking bits ...

Ta da!!! :D

12 Mar 2009 - Thank You

I would like to express my thanks to 2 visitors on MyTreasurestoYou. One is Holly, the other is LittleO2.

Holly wrote me a long email, telling me in detail the type of beads that she would want to see more of. I am sure that she has taken some time off to pen her thoughts. She even went through my site to note down the set #!

LittleO2 just like her cute nickname, is a polite and cheerful person as from what I see from her email to me. Just like Holly, she wrote down in a short and sweet sentence the type of beads she would want to see more of. She also bought a set of beads from me too.

Thank you darlings for making my day. I've also uploaded 2 sets of beads for today!

Several of my friends told me that I am selling my handmade beads at a lower than market price as compared to those bead makers who have been around before me. I am aware that a lot of budding jewelry artists have a limited budget to start with and that's why I priced my beads at an affordable amount. I am also willing to make discounts if it's within a reasonable amount. Why? It's because I want you budding artists to have fun mixing clay beads into your pieces! I am very interested to know what you'll do to my beads. :)

I am thinking of holding a contest. Those who have bought beads from me can email me photos of your jewelry that you made with my beads. Winners will get a SGD5.00 (2nd prize) / SGD10.00 (1st prize) voucher for use on my site. And of course, I need at least 8 participants to get this contest started. If you're up for this, email me! :)

My email is adelin.lok@gmail.com

9 Mar 2009

I will be uploading new sets of beads later this week or early next week! :)

Take care everyone!

8 Feb 2009
